The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources announced the resumption of red sand (sand dunes) exports from the approved sand mining complex in Gunan in the Eastern Province. This is the first phase of a gradual process aimed at resuming the export of sand and gravel from several approved mining complexes. The ministry explained that the resumption of exports of red sand (sand dunes and gravel) (crusher materials) came after completing technical and environmental studies with relevant government agencies, holding several meetings and workshops with investors, and developing guidelines, controls, and procedures for export applications. The ministry explained that the process of selecting mining complexes to resume exports of basic raw materials for building materials was based on several criteria, including the proximity of these complexes to border crossings, the completion of coordination with relevant government agencies, and the completion of the development of the targeted mining complexes with the necessary capabilities to implement control and compliance processes. The ministry stated that applications for the export permit issuance service have been made available to investors who have obtained exploitation licenses within the mining complex in Gonan in the Eastern Province via the mining platform. Exports will be resumed from the targeted mining complexes after the completion of the necessary procedures and studies.
