Minister discusses Embraer company aviation industry localization in KSA
His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, held discussions with Dimas Douglas Tomlin, Vice President of Strategy and Innovation at Embraer, the leading Brazilian aviation company. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in the aviation industry and localizing it within the Kingdom.
The talks addressed strengthening collaboration between the Kingdom and Embraer in the aviation sector and benefiting from the company’s expertise in this field, including aircraft manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance. This aligns with the Kingdom’s efforts to diversify its economy and develop new and advanced industries, as the National Industrial Strategy targets 12 sectors, including the aviation industry.
His Excellency’s tour included visits to the company’s facilities: Ozires Silva Facility, Eugenio de Melo Facility, and Gavião Peixoto Facility, where commercial, military, rotary, and electric aircraft are manufactured, in addition to the research and engineering center.
Embraer was established in 1969 and provides a comprehensive range of services, including design, manufacturing, and maintenance. The company operates across the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Europe, and has delivered over 8,000 aircraft to commercial aviation sectors.
Interaction between the Kingdom and Embraer began during the Saudi-Brazilian Aviation Forum in 2023. In May 2024, Embraer, the National Industrial Development Center (NIDC), and AHQ Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance the aviation ecosystem in Saudi Arabia, focusing on Embraer aircraft adoption, technological collaboration, and supply chain development. This partnership aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and includes evaluating the E21 family for a new regional airline project.
