Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Concludes his Official visit to Switzerland

The Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, His Excellency Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, has concluded his official visit to Switzerland. The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation in the industrial and mining sectors and enhance trade and non-oil exports between Saudi Arabia (KSA) and Switzerland. The visit was part of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which seeks to diversify the economy and explore promising investment opportunities in the industrial sector.

During his visit, Al-Khorayef met Mrs. Helen Bodleger Artida, Her Excellency the Minister of State for Economic Affairs in Switzerland, and Barbara Hughes, the Chairwoman of the Swiss Export Risk Insurance (SERV), to discuss the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the industrial and mining sectors.

His Excellency also participated in a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Growth Summit in Geneva, where he discussed strengthening cooperation between the Forum and the Kingdom with the head of Energy and Materials at (WEF). He also discussed the exchange of knowledge and technology transfer with the President of the Swiss Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Industries Association, and participated in a round table meeting that brought together over 15 major Swiss companies to discuss stimulating attracting quality investments in the Kingdom’s industrial and mining sectors.

During his Visit, Al-Khorayef made field visits to a number of Swiss companies, met with their chief executives, and visited the Swiss University of Bern to see the latest technologies in use. He also met with Saudi students in Switzerland.

His Excellency concludes his trip with a visit to the headquarters of manufacturing company PIECH, where he met with their executives, and to the multinational (ABB) group, and the headquarters of Nestlé. He also toured the precious metals refinery company Valcambi and discussed with its executives opportunities to attract investments to Saudi Arabia.

It is worth noting that, the aims of His Excellency’s visit to Switzerland were to advance growth paths between Saudi Arabia and Switzerland in promising industries, increase the penetration of Saudi non-oil exports to European markets, and attract qualitative foreign investments in a number of targeted sectors.
